ARTIST STATEMENT

Photography has been a hobby of mine for many years. However, in recent years it has
transformed more into a passion. I hope to develop my skills even further and create works of
art that capture the world around us. Over these years, I have built up my portfolio with a
diverse range of mediums and subjects. My photography consists of wildlife in their natural
environments and zoos, people, nature, and architecture. Much of these works were taken on
road trips when I always have my camera by my side. I additionally explored the realm of
videography with creating short films and promos, a music video, and videos of nature. Apart
from film and photos, I have also worked with mediums such as pencil, charcoal, and some
watercolor.

I create photos because I enjoy the whole process from start to finish. It may take me 100 tries
to get the right angle, lighting, or focus for a shot but that is a challenge I am willing to accept.
Taking a photo also requires adjusting camera settings based on the environment. I currently
shoot with a Canon Rebel T3i and telephoto lens that allows me to capture things from further
away, but it can be difficult getting a clear focus especially of moving wildlife. I edit and adjust
most of my photos which is another challenge in and of itself. I am still learning what the best
style for me is. There are so many obstacles to getting the final image, but the end result is
always worth it.
